The perfect #pie for luring #knuckers from #knuckerholes!
I'll let you into a little secret... a #SussexPie is essentially just a #AppleandRaisinPie, so most #applepie #recipes will do!
Ingredients:
Short crust pastry 200g
Cooking apples 220g
Sugar 80g
Raisins 60g
Currants 60g
Cinnamon ½ teaspoonful
Mixed spice ½ teaspoonful
If you want to make your own pastry you will need:
100g plain flour
50g butter (dairy-free butter if your vegan)
2-3 table spoons cold water
Method for pastry:
Sift the flour into a bowl
Cut the butter into small pieces, add to flour
Rub into the flour with fingers until it looks like breadcrumbs
Add enough cold water to bind the breadcrumbs together and mix to a smooth dough
Tip: If you accidentally add a bit too much water, put it in the fridge for an hour before using.
Method for pie:
Line your pie tin with pastry
Fill with chopped cooking apples, sugar, raisins, currants, cinnamon and spice
Cover with pastry, remember to make a cut in the pastry so air can escape.
Put it oven for half an hour 200C/180C fan until the pastry is baked and the apple filling is bubbling and hot.
Once your pie cools, you will be ready to go #knucker hunting! Read about our knucker hunting adventure here.
